blogger’s best gifts

December 20, 2007

when i asked people what their favorite christmas/hannakuh gift of all time was it took some time to get responses. i think it would probably take me a long time to think about it too if i hadn’t already (which is why i made this post) i think my favorite christmas present(s) ever was an actual cash register (from parents), my pink bmx bike (from aunt carol)..this is tough, because i also love the pink sapphire jewelry i’ve received as well ;)

Jeff Dempsey - Super Nintendo, age 10
Pablo Palatnik - Les Paul Gibson Guitar
Chris Hooley - Sectaurs
Darfur - Dialup Internet Account
Missy Ward - my puppy Bella
Jim Hedger - My parents have taken to buying me animals which I store in a growing number of undisclosed African towns and villages. This form of agricultural altruism has been going on for a few years now. Thus far they have compiled a managery comprised of three goats, a couple of cows and dozens of chickens. Though I have little hope of ever consolidating these animals into a single farmily unit, I do know they are producing food and other resources for the people of the towns and villages in which they are kept. Apparently, a goat provides almost 2 liters of milk per day. I have no idea how much milk a chicken can produce each day.
Cheryl Clark - Stinger 2000 ringette stick, age 15
Dave Naylor - Tin Can Alley, age 6
John Kitover - Grandfather’s 1950’s baseball card collection
David Wallace - “..a suede leather jacket my wife and kids bought me a few Christmases ago, not necessarily because I get a lot of use out of it (I live in Arizona) but the thought that they put into it.”
Andrew Wee - 1 week of uninterrupted sleep…[Which I’m enjoying now in Hong Kong and China]
Simon Heseltine - Calendar every year from Grandmother with pictures that remind him of home
Marcus Tandler - My favorite christmas gift ever would be peace on earth! I know it´s stupid to say, but hey - materialism sucks :-)
Eli - when i was 11 or 12 there was this wicked bike that i wanted all year. It had a speed shield and a car style shifter (to change gears) right on the handle bars. 6 speed with fat tires. It was badass..Santa got it for me
Jon Heinl - The greatest gift I ever received for Christmas was my “Don’t Hassle The Hoff” t-shirt! Shits, HAWT!
Eddie Machado - I flipped out one Christmas when my parents gave me a Teddy Ruxpin. That began my love affair with mechanical bears.
Kaveman - my mom got me a 12 gauge shotgun 2 years ago
Sarmatian - my first digital camera

Rebecca Kelley - Anything my boyfriend gets me (awwwww).
Lisa Barone - Oh Jesus, Rebecca…
Jane Copeland - So I take it that Lisa’s ultimate Christmas gifts would be Jesus and Rebecca. That’s weird.

Adam Sussman - Sometime ago I got a Turbo Blaster Race set. I tore open the box, pieced the track together and within minutes started to race the cars around the track. Approximately 15 minutes in I did a full throttle on the accelerator just as my car was hitting the loop that arcs the wall. The car sped up to max speed and took off like a rocket. The car then skipped off the track, flew threw the air and smack right into the wall smashing my new car into a dozen pieces.
Brian Prince - I once got a scratch off card in my stocking from “Santa” and it turned out to be a $500 winner - so that was pretty cool….
Rae Hoffman - A pair of very expensive, pro grade roller skates when I was 14. I still own them.
Barry Schwartz - My fav gift, a goldfish for my iPhone

and for my celebrity response:

The favorite gift I received was a new car. A girlfriend gave me a VW Bug Convertible and we lived by the beach and it’s just a perfect California car. The best gift I ever gave was a purse that she wanted and I filled it up with lots of really cool stuff.

Merry Christmas,

Bobby Ray Shafer
