when i asked people what their favorite christmas/hannakuh gift of all time was it took some time to get responses. i think it would probably take me a long time to think about it too if i hadn’t already (which is why i made this post) i think my favorite christmas present(s) ever was an actual cash register (from parents), my pink bmx bike (from aunt carol)..this is tough, because i also love the pink sapphire jewelry i’ve received as well

Jim Hedger - My parents have taken to buying me animals which I store in a growing number of undisclosed African towns and villages. This form of agricultural altruism has been going on for a few years now. Thus far they have compiled a managery comprised of three goats, a couple of cows and dozens of chickens. Though I have little hope of ever consolidating these animals into a single farmily unit, I do know they are producing food and other resources for the people of the towns and villages in which they are kept. Apparently, a goat provides almost 2 liters of milk per day. I have no idea how much milk a chicken can produce each day.

Adam Sussman - Sometime ago I got a Turbo Blaster Race set. I tore open the box, pieced the track together and within minutes started to race the cars around the track. Approximately 15 minutes in I did a full throttle on the accelerator just as my car was hitting the loop that arcs the wall. The car sped up to max speed and took off like a rocket. The car then skipped off the track, flew threw the air and smack right into the wall smashing my new car into a dozen pieces.

my trip to oregon

i don’t even know where to start really?! i left moline at 7am and flew to minneapolis to catch my connecting flight to portland. eli’s sister, nari, picked me up from the airport and we went back to her place and hung out for a few hours until eli and his roommate, matthew, arrived. eli’s sister, merry, got there later. We stayed at nari’s house that first night, getting to know everyone and drinking until we couldn’t anymore! merry got to open her xmas present from eli and i took a video of that special moment! later in the night, i decided that eli needs to see the pain olympics video so i recorded his response to it.

the next day (friday) we hung around the house for a while and made a few stops before we headed to mt hood. next stop….liquor store! i picked up a bottle of french kiss (not sure why it just looked good) and eli got some other stuff too. merry and nari wanted to get bailey’s for their coffees in the morning. friday night we played a mean game of king’s cup and merry dominated with her crazy rules…one being that we had to say at the end of every sentence “stick it in my butt!” i cooked my infamous cheesy potatoes for the group and we snacked on stuff from the store. jon waraas and his roommate wes showed up that night about 10pm from idaho and we all hung out until we crashed.we woke up saturday morning around 9 or so and i made breakfast burritos and matthew made bacon. we packed up our gear and headed to the meadows in jon’s truck. it had snowed 9 inches the night before so the 4wd was needed! once we got to the resort i had to rent gear (boots & snowboard) cause i’m not leet enough yet to have my own all of us went to the kiddie tow rope area to start to get the hang of things because 3 of us had never boarded before. i made it all of the way up the hill my first time without falling so i thought ..ok i can do this! when i got to the top of the tow rope hill they stopped it for someone that fell, and when it started up again, it jerked me forward and i fell flat on my face. i got myself away from the rope and attempted to stand up for the first time on a snowboard. oh..my..god. big boobs are not a good thing when you snowboard, being top heavy like that makes it difficult to get up! i managed to get myself up and started down the hill and i did pretty good i guess. we all got back to the bottom of the hill and eli and jon decided that we all need to go up the lift and just go at it. NOT GOOD! as i’m waiting to get on the chairlift, i must have been standing weird because it knocked into my legs and i fell over and they had to stop it hahah! so i finally get on the lift with wes and we’re on our way up the mountain. after the 10 minute ride up the mountain, wes and i begin to freak out because we see the end of the life and the decline down once you get off the chair. here’s where major wipeout #1 occurs. pretty much i end up sliding down off the lift hill on my back with my head first. once we all get back together, eli and jon take off on the super pro hill like it’s no thing jumping over rocks and spinning and shit. me and wes take the other side of the hill and make our way down. after many falls, i start to get the hang of it and i make it for a while down the hill. all of the sudden my board starts to slide and i realize i’m on a patch of ice! the board lunges forward and i fall down on my ass and the back of my head hits on the ice pretty hard. i get back up and start riding again and realize that i’m starting to get dizzy and sick to my stomach. i take off my board and walk a little while as wes is boarding along side of me. the rest of the way down i’m dizzy and trying not to puke so i sit on the board and ride it like a sled for a little while down the mountain. wes sees how much fun i’m having so he joins in on the sledding! about 2 hours later we make it to the bottom of the hill. eventually all of us meet up at the bottom and sit around the fires outside and drink some pitchers. eli and jon go out for another round and nari’s husband gets there with his friend preston so i let them use my jacket with my lift ticket on it and they all head back out. me and matthew hung out and had some drinks and wait for the others to get back.saturday night we all went back to the cabin and i took a shower to relax. i made another pan of potatoes and put ribs in the oven. a crazy game of monopoly had started and lasted a few hours. i was ready to sleep around midnight and all of the sudden jon thought it would be a great idea to finish off the liquor and do shots for the next 4-5 hours.

i think we finally went to sleep around 7am! sunday morning came way too early for 11am checkout of the cabin. although we didn’t leave there until 1pm and headed back to nari’s house. eli and matthew stayed for a little while and we said our goodbyes so they could drive back home. the girls took me to the airport at 7pm for my 9pm flight. i didn’t get home until 15 hours later.my weekend was absolutely amazing. i tried new things, met the nicest people ever, made friends forever, and visited a beautiful state. oh yeah..eli’s pretty awesome too

busy week ahead

this past weekend i’ve been having to work a lot, bartending at private holiday parties and putting up with drunk people.  tomorrow morning i have my first final which is in math, and i will be so glad when this class is over.  my other 2 finals i have are both on wednesday.  thursday at 7am i fly to portland to go snowboarding until sunday, and my flight gets home monday morning.

i’m still somewhat sick, and unfortunately i’ve infected a few people with this sickness! (sorry)  bad cough and runny nose just won’t go away.  hopefully it’s gone before i have to travel.   it’s now 11:15pm sunday night, and i’ve been studying for a while now for math, and i honestly can say i don’t remember anything i just looked over.  this can’t be good.
